Hardware warranty and RMA process guide

If your Styku scanner hardware has failed, this article explains what warranty coverage applies, how to determine if you’re in or out of warranty, and how to initiate a repair or replacement through Styku’s RMA process.

Standard 1-Year Limited Equipment Warranty

Section titled “Standard 1-Year Limited Equipment Warranty”

Styku provides a 1-year limited warranty to the original purchaser covering defects in workmanship or materials from the date of delivery. If a covered defect is confirmed within the warranty period, Styku will repair or replace the defective part or unit at no charge.

Covered: Manufacturing defects and faulty materials. Not covered: Accidental damage, physical damage from misuse, damage from unauthorized modifications, or failures caused by environments outside the equipment’s specifications.

Styku Care is an extended warranty product purchased and billed separately from any Styku software plan. It extends hardware coverage beyond the standard 1-year window for as long as your Styku Care subscription remains active. No Styku plan — including Elite and Enterprise — includes Styku Care automatically.

  • If you do not have an active Styku Care purchase, your hardware coverage ends at 1 year from delivery regardless of which software plan you are on.
  • If you have purchased Styku Care, extended coverage is active as long as your Styku Care subscription is current.

S100 scanners are not eligible for Styku Care. The original S100 sensor tower is excluded from Styku Care extended coverage. S100 hardware is covered only by the standard 1-year limited warranty from the date of delivery; once that window passes, any repair or replacement is handled as an out-of-warranty service (see below). Styku Care extended coverage applies to the S100X and newer hardware.

To confirm whether Styku Care is active on your account, check the Styku Business Portal at styku.com/portal under your subscription or warranty details, or contact support.

Use these questions to determine your coverage:

Question In warranty?
Delivery date was less than 12 months ago Yes (standard 1-year)
Delivery date was more than 12 months ago AND no active Styku Care purchase No
Delivery date was more than 12 months ago AND active Styku Care purchase Yes (Styku Care) — except S100 scanners, which are not eligible for Styku Care
Scanner is an S100 (original sensor tower) and delivery date was more than 12 months ago No (S100 is not eligible for Styku Care; standard 1-year warranty only)
Styku Care subscription has lapsed or been cancelled Styku Care inactive; check delivery date for standard coverage

If you’re unsure of your delivery date, submit a support ticket and Styku can look it up.

For equipment outside the warranty period, Styku may offer repair or replacement at your expense:

  • Diagnostic and shipping fee: Flat $295 — covers Styku’s diagnosis of the issue, round-trip shipping to and from Styku’s service location, and an attempted repair. Shipping within the USA is included; international shipments, duties, and taxes are not.
  • If unrepairable: A $95 credit is issued toward the cost of a replacement part.

Replacement part pricing (if repair is not possible):

Component Price
Turntable / Rotating Platform $1,150
Sensor Tower $1,150
Laptop Computer $850
All-in-One Computer $900
Mat $300
V5/V6 Travel Kit $350
Sensor $650
Sensor or Turntable Cables $55

Note — tablet and tablet charger: Styku does not supply, sell, or ship tablets or tablet chargers/power adapters. A tablet is not an available replacement part. If you have an older X2 or X2 Pro Hub unit whose tablet has failed, been lost, or needs a charger, the recommended path is to migrate Styku Studio to a Windows laptop or computer. You can use a customer-owned Windows device that meets Styku’s minimum specifications, or purchase Styku’s pre-configured replacement laptop ($850 + shipping). Your scanning license will be reset so it activates on the new machine. If you only need a replacement tablet charger, please source one from a third-party retailer. Contact support for migration assistance.

To initiate a hardware return or repair request:

  1. Log in to the Styku Business Portal at styku.com/portal.
  2. Submit a support ticket and include:
    • Business name and scanner location address
    • Description of the hardware failure — which component failed, what symptoms appear, and when the issue started
    • Photos or video showing the failure (required for most hardware issues)
    • Date of delivery (if known) or your approximate installation date
    • Whether the issue follows a recent software update, physical move of the scanner, or other event
  3. A support agent will respond and, if the issue warrants hardware service, will confirm warranty status and provide RMA instructions including a shipping label.

Do not ship hardware back to Styku without an authorized RMA number. Unauthorized returns will not be processed.

In-warranty RMA:

  • Styku covers all shipping and repair/replacement costs.
  • Expect a turnaround time communicated by your support agent at the time of authorization.
  • You may be asked to send the defective unit back before a replacement ships, or in some cases a replacement ships first.

Out-of-warranty repair:

  • Styku will invoice you for the $295 diagnostic and shipping fee before proceeding.
  • After diagnosis, Styku will quote any additional repair or replacement cost before performing work.
  • You have the option to decline at that point.

If this resolves your issue, no further action is needed.

Contact support at styku.com/portal to open a ticket for any hardware issue. Include photos and as much detail about the failure as possible to speed up the review.
